On Febuary 25th 2009. I lost my kitty Shakira. She wasn't mine on paper, but she felt like she was mine. She often went into our house and hung out. She's the best cat I ever knew, and she was different. Her friends weren't other cats. They were family and dogs... The reason for her death, was allergies. They had gotten so bad, that she had cuts on her throat and around her eyes. The medicine she had been on, was no longer working. A difficult decision was made, and she had to be put to sleep. I know it was the right thing. But it doesn't help against the pain I am feeling. Because I didn't know, that when I held her on Tuesday night and said "I love you" that it would be the last one...

Shakira, you touched our lives in so many ways. You gave us love, joy and peace. Your heart touched everyone who got to know you. Everytime I came home from school, I got a cuddle from you before going inside. Now, I know we did the right thing. But I miss you dearly and I can't imagine how happy you are. Rest In Peace my friend, because you did your job. You loved the people around you, even if you were in a difficult situation.
